Davy Rothbart | Found Magazine

When Davy Rothbart began putting together a little Xeroxed magazine called Found, a collection of items—love letters, birthday cards, to-do lists, tickets stubs, poetry on bar napkins, doodles, etc--he had no idea what kind of chord he was about to strike.

Within a year, he was profiled in the New Yorker and The Chicago Tribune, and his magazine was written up in everything from USA Today to Penthouse.

And when Fireside Books released FOUND: The Best Lost, Tossed and Forgotten Items from Around the World in 2004, it quickly became a national bestseller that was featured on The Late Show with David Letterman, and Davy visited all 50 states to promote the book.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Rothbart is a contributor to public radio’s This American Life, a rapper, a documentary filmmaker, and the author of the story collection The Lone Surfer of Montana, Kansas (Touchstone Books, 2005). He lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

------------

The San Francisco chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design, presents the seventeenth (almost) annual Design Lecture Series.

One of the oldest and most important lecture series dedicated to the convergence of technology, art and design, this year's series continues a tradition of bringing world-renowned professionals to one of the world's great creative capitals.

This year's lineup showcases different avenues in which creativity and design influence our culture. Each speaker brings a unique perspective to the conversation, and another link in what may appear to be an uncommon thread.
